Election: Vote Global candidates urged to back Debt Tribunal

8 April 2010
With an election called for May 6, the UK public is being urged to Vote Global, and choose representatives in Wesminster who put a priority on the alleviation - rather than the worsening - of global poverty. To facilitate this, civil society organisations have put together an election manifesto which sets out the goals and strategies that  representatives should sign up to - click here to download a copy of this manifesto.

Candidates are being asked to commit to a Fair Deal on Debt, a tribunal which will be able to overturn the dictactor debts and war loans of the past while also putting a stop to new bad lending. If you have five minutes, please visit the Methodist Relief and Development Fund's letter action which will let your candidate know you are behind this ambitious proposal.

If you would like to put the debt question yourself, come to the Vote Global hustings on the 27th of April, in the Boyd Orr building of the University of Glasgow from 7-8.30pm. Spaces will be strictly limited so please book as soon as possible by emailing your name to mail[at]jubileescotland.org.uk.
