On the first weekend of November, finance ministers from the twenty riches nations in the world will meet in St Andrews to decide on solutions to the global financial and climate crises. Help us to make sure that they know that business as usual is not an option. As the Finance Ministers meet, ensure that they hear your voice, and not just the voices of banks and big business. Hundreds of people will be coming to St Andrews on November 7th to show the G20 ministers that we care about the decisions that they will be taking in our name. Come along and join the rally on the beach (bring a banner!), hear about some real solutions at our ‘People’s summit’, and stay for a free screening of ‘The Yes Men Fix the World’.
Below are links to all the resources you will need to get ready for St Andrews and to get others involved.

Justice From Crisis: What Alastair Darling Should Tell the G20
WHALE Arts, 30 Westburn Grove, Wester Hailes, near train station and Plaza
In the run up G20 meetings in SCOTLAND in November, one of the biggest opportunities to influence decisions is to put pressure on Edinburgh MP Alistair Darling. Mr Darling has refused to attend a meeting of his constituents this Friday 16th October, but a meeting is being held for people to come and make their concerns known in his absence. A strong line-up of speakers will include Mike Kirby (Convener, UNISON Scotland), Ewan Aitken (Church of Scotland) and Juliet Swann (Friends of the Earth Scotland) and a collective statement will be taken from the meeting to Mr Darling before the G20.

A recent report on the IMF has shown that although changes have been made, detrimental advice and conditions still lurk behind any help that poverty stricken countries may recieve. This report, completed by SOLIDAR, Eurodad and the Global Network follows a lack of any substantive changes made at the Pittsburgh G20 leaders meeting, opting only to alter its governence structure but not its aims. With unemployment expected to rise by 59 million by the end of the year, with many, many more pushed into extreme poverty, it will be the developing countries which will be hardest hit. Yet, while the IMF has agreed vastly more loans this year than before, extremely tight, stingent restrctions remain resulting in many unable to recieve the support they need. Click here to read more.
Jubilee Scotland is currently seeking an Intern Fundraiser. The post will be challenging and varied and give an excellent insight into the workings of a small but dynamic campaigning organisation.
