We are very sad to announce that Jubilee Scotland is closing its doors on the 31st of December 2023. It’s been a fantastic run and we are incredibly proud of the work we have done together. We cannot thank you enough for your support, whether you’ve given your time, finances or helped spread the word about our campaigns. Please keep reading to see what we are doing to support the next steps in our campaigns.
Celebration
We plan to celebrate with a small event in January as we toast our collective work and success over the years. If you would like to join us, and don’t receive our newsletter, please get in touch via mail@jubileescotland.org.uk before the 21st Dec to receive the details.
Details
Despite valiant efforts, sadly we no longer have the funding to continue. This is a very difficult time to gain funding for a small niche organisation. However, while we may be closing, we know our partners like Debt Justice UK, Eurodad, Jubilee USA and others will continue the fight for debt justice.
If you would like to ask any questions about any of the following plans for what happens next, please do get in touch: mail@jubileescotland.org.uk. Where possible we will be in touch with individual donors to confirm the end of their direct debit.
The campaigns go on!
Jubilee Scotland will continue working to ensure we are making an impact even as we close. Keep an eye out for our updates in our newsletter and on our social media. We will be ensuring that we support the continued work on the following campaigns so the great work continues!

Briefing entitled Legislative reform to ease debt restructuring for lower-income countries.

UK Private Creditor Legislation
Last year we raised money for a debt justice campaign through the Big Give. They have given us permission to gift this to a fellow organisation doing similar work. We have nominated to gift this to Debt Justice UK. They are working on a campaign for UK legislation that compels private creditors to engage in debt negotiations – Stop Cowboy Lenders. This is a campaign we have been working on over the course of this year and, if legislation is passed, it could create real tangible results in the fight for debt justice. Read more about the proposed legislation on the Debt Justice website.
Scotland Against Public Private Partnerships
We are working to ensure our Scotland Against Public Private Partnerships campaign is taken up by another organisation who will continue to push this vital issue. Our volunteer Task Force of experts are keen to continue the work and we will support them in planning the next steps.
In our December newsletter we’ll have suggestions for how you can continue to support the fight for debt justice. Thank you again for your loyal support over the years.
If you have any questions please reach out to us at mail@jubileescotland.org.uk as soon as possible. Thank you.
